Walks, pools, snorkelling and markets that cost nothing.
The walk
The Bondi to Coogee coastal walk is about 6 kilometres of clifftops, beaches and pools. Take our free audio walk with you: twelve stories play as you reach each spot, in six voices and five languages.
Free ocean pools
Bronte Baths, the North Bondi Children's Pool, Clovelly, Giles Baths and Ross Jones Memorial Pool cost nothing. See the ocean pools guide for which are closed for cleaning today.
Snorkelling
Bring a mask to Clovelly or Gordons Bay, where Sydney's only underwater nature trail runs around the bay.
In season
- Whales pass along this coast from about May to November. Any headland makes a free lookout.
- Sculpture by the Sea fills the Bondi to Tamarama walk with free outdoor art for about 18 days from mid-October.
- The Festival of the Winds fills the sky over Bondi with kites in September.
Every weekend
- Bondi Farmers Market (Saturdays, Bondi Beach Public School): Saturday market: local produce, coffee and hot food behind the beach.
- Bondi Markets (Sundays, Bondi Beach Public School): Sunday market for fashion, vintage, art and design from young makers.
- Waverley Cemetery tour (Saturdays, Waverley Cemetery, Bronte): Volunteer-led 90-minute tours. Steep ground, not suitable for limited mobility.
Always swim between the red and yellow flags at a patrolled beach, and ask the lifeguards about conditions. Beach safety, with pictures
